Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- 1.5 cups water (or chicken broth for extra flavor)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)
Steps
- In a bowl, beat the eggs gently until smooth.
- Add water (or chicken broth) and mix well. Strain the mixture through a sieve to remove bubbles for a smoother texture.
- Add salt and white pepper (if using), and stir gently.
- Pour the mixture into a heatproof dish and cover with a lid or aluminum foil to prevent water droplets from falling onto the surface.
- Steam over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, or until the custard is set but still tender.
- Drizzle with sesame oil (if using) and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Tips
Avoid using high heat while steaming, as it may cause the egg mixture to boil excessively and result in an uneven surface. Adjust steaming time based on the size of the container to ensure the custard is fully set.
